Your birthday is a very dangerous day

Or in my case, week. I’m failing right now! When it comes to weight loss anyways.

On Saturday, we go over to MIL’s house. Grandma has made chili with noodles in it, and hot dogs. I chopped up three hot dogs and put it in my chili, luckily there weren’t too many noodles in it.

But then because it’s my birthday Grandma made a cake. I had one small slice with coffee. Grandma sent us home with three more slices. I gave them to my brother and mom. The next day? I ate ONE of those slices *sigh*

The silver lining? I have made a huge pot of chicken vegetable soup to take to work for the rest of the week, because next weekend is my birthday party, and we are going to be going to a place that has private karaoke rooms and Asian food. I already picked my meal, but it will have glass noodles (which I read have a low GI), and I do plan on having 1-2 drinks. I’m turning 30, I need it! The soup tastes fabulous. I followed this basic recipe: Chicken Vegetable Soup but I didn’t do the can of diced tomatoes with basil, garlic, and oregano, instead I picked one with green chiles in it, for more of a spicy kick and Mexican flavor, I guess it’s more of a Mexican chicken vegetable soup ;)

I weighed in at 205 this Monday, so I didn’t do fabulously, but considering I ate out more than once this weekend, and had dessert, a half pound loss is something I’m willing to take! And today’s work was a run around, I was out from 1:30 to 5 pm, and when I got home, I was so hungry I ate a piece of cheese and then my mom dished me up a plate of dolma, and I ate EVERY bite, along with one slice of pita bread! It’s not a terrible, but it’s not great. Specially when my morning and lunch was good, but I didn’t eat enough during the day and so I came home starving. If you don’t know what dolma is, click here. Basically it’s rice wrapped and cooked in grape leaves. My mom doesn’t use much oil, but that is a lot of rice that I ate! A whole PLATE! My mom also makes hers with tomatoes, onions, and zucchini, so I had quite a few veggies in there as well.

Tomorrow will be better because 1- I’m not going in to work until 1 pm, and 2- I’m going to prepare my dinner so when I get home I have something ready to eat! :) And overall things will get better when I get a NORMAL schedule, I hate my schedule right now, and once I get something more normal, I definitely think I can get into gear even better.

I’m still in it, I swear.

You are far from failing! A half pound loss is great considering all that you’ve had going on. That dolma sounds interesting and good. That’s the first time I’ve heard of it.

I spoke too soon, my dad called and is taking me out for dinner tonight! See, I know that I’m gonna either gain or stay the same, I pray I stay the same!

Birthdays are hard, especially when you are celebrating separately with different family members. Stay focused and try to compensate with the rest of your day if you can. Good luck!

Happy Birthday! Drink lots of water and try to eat sensible the rest of the week when not celebrating. Next week work hard to stay on track as much as possible. You will survive!
