Being Healthy IS a Gift
So many of us talk about how losing weight is hard, I agree, it is! But some of us take for granted that being healthy isn’t just a chore, but it’s a gift. I’m thankful for my health, but I want to be healthier!
This year, at 30 years old, my gift to myself is the gift of weight loss. I promise, this year, to exercise more and lose the weight. I swear even if it KILLS ME I want to get down to goal THIS year.
I didn’t weigh in today because I forgot. I started my new job today, so I was up at 6 am, got ready, ate breakfast (greek yogurt, a spoonful of strawberry jam, and Special K protein cereal). I DID peek at the scale this evening and I think tomorrow IS going to be a good number!
I did fabulous IMO at my party, I didn’t eat a lot, I didn’t even eat all MY food. I had half my drink, and spent the night singing and dancing away
My new job? FABULOUS- so far so good. I think I will like it there.
The only thing is the gym is not available to me yet!
How sad is that?! I can’t use the gym unless I am a permanent employee, which apparently can take a year! *cry*
BUT on the bright side they do have a cafeteria FULL of healthy food (with an executive chef), they offer complimentary tea and coffee at all the break rooms, and they advocate a healthy lifestyle. AND AND AND once a month they have sushi chefs come and make sushi. Of course we have to pay for it, but any job that has sushi once a month- OMG I think I found Heaven on Earth!
Anyways, I’m still doing well, no more eating out, eating healthy is in! And as soon as I settle I’m working out
I’m trying to figure out if I am going to work out before or after work. At this point, if I could work out AT my job, I’d do it before, get up half an hour earlier, go straight to work in my gym clothes, work out, put my work clothes on, and then have my day and leave, but since that option isn’t available to me, I’m thinking the next best thing would be to join a gym on the way to work and go to the gym before?

Glad you are doing well! I really like your new attitude! Sorry you can’t use the work gym. Yet. I bet you get hired permanently sooner rather than later, though!

I hope you settle in nicely and love your new job.

Hope your first day went well! You’re so right that being healthy is a gift and in so many ways that we can control, it’s ours to cherish and maintain, or alternately to squander and live with the consequences.

Man Gwen, I met a girl who worked there for 2.5 YEARS before they made her a permanent employee- that scares me!
The boss seems excited for me, so I hope that’s not the case.

Hooray for liking your work environment (and your job). And for how well you did at your party.

Wow. Your new workplace sounds awesome. Gym, free coffee and tea, and health and wellness promotion? Where do I sign up?
Is there any way maybe you can pay a small fee to use the gym until you’re allowed to use it as an “allowed” employee?
