BOO FLU
I am miserable. I have been hit with the flu since Friday.
And it was strange, cuz I was REALLY fighting it, and today was when it hit it’s peak. In fact, Sunday, I thought I was fine! Then I woke up Monday, and just grabbing my phone to call in sick was so difficult, my head was spinning when I was done.
So then today, I just got worse and worse, now my nose is stuffed, I’m sneezing over and over, I have a headache, body aches (again), fever (again), I’m vomiting, and so on.
I feel bad because I just started my new job, but thankfully both my bosses are very understanding and said please don’t come back in until you are well. Which I am very willing to oblige! I am sure I got that nasty flu that has been going around
The one they said that even the flu shot couldn’t stop this terrible strain going around
Anyways, let’s talk about exercise: Non-existent since Friday. And I was so proud of myself guys, I was walking more, I was taking the stairs EVERYWHERE, noticing a difference in my thighs already (whether imagined or not I didn’t care). Right now my exercise consists of getting up and going to the bathroom without falling over.
Food: Carbs, honey, and tea- oh my! Seriously, I have eaten chicken soup, black tea with honey and lemon, and white bread to help settle my stomach. I also ate some oranges today too. I’m scared to look at the scale TBH, I’m a person who usually gains when they are sick, which is frustrating to say the least
So that’s it for now, I’m just working on getting better so I can get back to the healthy eating, exercising, and the job!

sorry you got the flu. But I’ve heard differently than you; that the flu shot reduces your chance of getting the crazy strain now by over 65%. I like those odds, and hope it holds true. Hope you get better fast! Don’t worry about the weight now; just get well!

Hope you’re feeling better soon Bee! (hug) You know I had the flu recently, and I had gotten a flu shot in the fall! It was horrible, but I’m thankful I didn’t have any of the stomach issues – just the aches, chills, fever, nasal congestion. That was more than enough for me! Don’t worry about sticking to a strict food plan right now, just eat what makes you feel better – none of what you mentioned sounded horrible. I still haven’t gotten back to exercise, but have been at least getting in some dog walks. Maybe later this week…

I peeked at the scale, it just made me mad, I’m guessing I’m retaining water though because I haven’t gone crazy on my eating, but all the sodium from the chicken soup is probably the culprit, that and I read many people retain water when they are sick.

Ugh, the flu. The body aches are awful. I hope you are feeling soon. Don’t worry about your eating and exercise at this time, just do what you need to do to feel better!

Stay away from the scale and focus on getting better. When you are over your illness you can go right back to exercising, and get back to normal.
I have been drinking smoothies and echinacea tea hoping to avoid illnesses this winter. It’s weird cause for the last few days my body is feeling like it kinda wants to get sick, and I just keep guzzling “Throat Coat” tea and smoothies. For half a day I felt a little dizzy, tired, and kinda achy, but then it fades away.

That’s what my body did, 3 days I fought it, but I lost in the end!

Sorry to hear that you managed to catch that nasty flu bug. Get your rest, because it’s most important at this point.
Sounds like it came at the most inopportune time, but then again…when is it a good time to catch the flu?
