Cheese Please!

Sooo I love cheese. I ADORE cheese. I’d eat it all day if I could. In fact, I probably eat at least 1 oz a day of cheese. It’s a great source of calcium, protein, slows blood sugar absorption, etc. BUT it can be high in saturated fat and sodium which is not good for your blood pressure or cholesterol. It’s great for my lower carb lifestyle, but it really bothers me just how much fat it adds to my day! 9 oz!

AND I just bought a huge bag of those tiny babybel type cheeses (white cheddar). The plan is once they are gone I will look for lower fat/sodium cheeses.

I’ve looked up applegate farms and boars head, and will see if my local grocier carries these types of products. In addition I will also look up some lower sodium deli meats (by the same companies) but I like my chopped up deli meat in my salad but I DO NOT like the sodium in them! 4 slices is almost 800 mg sodium! *dies*

Last weekend, despite not having water (pipes are being replaced in our home) and having to go OUT to get to a bathroom (and eat because no water means no cooking!), I think I did well. We only went out Saturday for a walk, but this morning I went to the gym and did 25 minutes on the elliptical. I would have done longer but I stretched a good 5 minutes beforehand. I was having strange pain on Friday and Saturday in my pelvic area and think I may have hurt myself with my two runs? I plan on getting some stretches in beforehand and using the elliptical for a few days before getting back into the running.

I just feel like I’m NEVER gonna be a good runner because of all these issues that pop up! :( BUT I refuse to give up :)

I hope your pelvic pain lessens! Try massaging the area and I think your stretching may help!

I love cheese too but like you, I have to be extremely mindful of it! I find the strong tasting ones are great so I only need to use a bit to punch up flavor! I love grating hard cheese into pasta as a final touch.

I’m sure you’ll get into the swing of things with this new routine. Hope the pain went away – take it easy with the workouts.

You’ll be a good runner! Just hang in there and keep pushing. Never give up! The first 6 weeks are the hardest. When I started running, I couldn’t even run for more than a minute, and that took everything out of me. You will get there – I promise!!

By pelvic area, do you mean hip flexors? If so, that’s normal. It can be one of the tightest places, muscle-wise. I get it all the time when I exert myself on cardio, i.e a 10-minute run or speed intervals.

    Try these poses. Works wonders.

Oh…almost forgot. Woohoo for getting it in the gym again! Now that’s what I’m talkin’ bout!
